I developed a web application for a power meter device showing real time power readings as a proof of concept for a remote meter reading solution to enhance the current old prepaid meters to smart meters. The web application was done using django, a web application framework. The web application used restful Api endpoints to communicate with the meter reading device and displayed the data from the device on charts showing meter consumption per minute. This project was a proof of concept for a more efficient way for monitoring electricity for KPLC as a way of reducing the turn around time in identifying and fixing broken down meters and also a possibility of offering clients real time analysis of their power consumption.
